Hello,
For those of you who follow me on Twitter, you might have seen I tweeted today about reasons to be happy and it got me thinking. Actually, two things got me thinking.
The first thing was the novel I'm working on. I was writing a passage in This Family Life about being more positive. It struck me as something - without being too introspective - that probably applied to me. Maybe to most of us. Sometimes it's so easy to get caught up in life, in routines, in the day-to-day, that we forget to be positive. It's easy to be negative. It's easy to say no, lock ourselves away and watch TV. It's far harder to change, be different and do amazing things because it means putting in a bit of effort.
The second thing that got me thinking was something I found a few weeks ago. The Holstee Manifesto. If you haven't heard about it or seen it before, it's a manifesto about how to live. It was written by three guys who started a t-shirt business, not just a t-shirt business, but a whole life experience. I know, it all sounds a bit poncy and in-practical and cliche perhaps, but the idea is to live your life, do what your passionate about. If you aren't happy, change. Without even realising it, I have been living by the same manifesto for years. I always believed that if you aren't happy, change. If you want to do something, do it. If you have a dream, follow it.
Reasons to be happy. I followed my dream and after lots of years of rejection and working hard on my own with no guarantee of success, I got my break. Now I get to do what I love every day.
But this brings me back to what I said before about being positive. Even though I love what I do, I could still be more positive and embrace life more. So I tweeted this today - Reasons to be happy No.1 - I'm 37 years old. This may seem like a reason to be sad for some, not me #glasshalffull
For the rest of May I'm going to tweet one reason to be happy everyday. I'm embracing change. I'm going to be more positive. It's just something to think about, that's all. Here is the manifesto in full.
Until next time.
Hugs,
Jon X
