So I've been working on the sequel to THIS THIRTYSOMETHING LIFE. I'm currently writing like a dog trying to get it done by the end of the year because, well, I want to get it out there so all of the fans of the first book can see what's happening to our hapless hero Harry Spencer. I know what it's like waiting for a sequel and I don't want to keep you waiting around.
The book is going to be called THIS FAMILY LIFE and it's going to follow Harry and Emily through the first year of parenthood. Unlike the first book (which was only nine months long) this is going to span a whole year. Twelve months where Harry can mess up, make up and try to keep his life together without (and to quote his one and only New Year's resolution in the book) doing anything really fucking stupid. Of course, this is Harry and his life is never going to be a smooth ride.
You can definitely expect a lot of highs and some very low lows, a lot more laughs and some heart-warming moments. One of the things that really touched me about the first book was how many emails and messages I got from people who said - this is my life. When I started writing the sequel, I definitely had that in mind. I didn't want to write a book that was silly or did something a lot different from the first. I think one of the things people loved about THIRTYSOMETHING was that it was so real and so I've kept this going with this book. I am a husband, a father and a sometimes useless, idiot man, and so hopefully people will be able to identify again.
I'm still working with my agent to get a deal for this book so I'm not 100% sure when it's going to be out, but definitely next year - hopefully sooner rather than later.
